How to install iPod and iPhone Driver without iTunes?

A PC requires an iPod and iPhone in order to communicate with the devices. The drivers are available as part of iTunes and are installed on the PC with the iTunes software. It is possible to install iPod and iPhone drivers without iTunes if the user does not want to install iTunes. There are iTunes alternatives which can manage the iPod or iPhone. Download alternative utilities and hardwaredevice drivers for the iPod and iPhone from the Apple site to install iPod and iPhone drivers without iTunes

In order to identify iPod, iPod Touch and iPhone and read their contents, your PC needs the corresponding drivers. Normally your PC is provided with the adequate drivers, when iTunes is installed.

If, for some reasons (lack of speed, file size, old system or PC ...), you don't want to install iTunes on your system, you can get the drivers as described below:
  • Download the file "iTunesSetup.exe" from the Apple webpage
  • Open the file with WinRAR
  • In the folder you will find some files containing "AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi" and "QuickTimes.msi"
  • Extract both files and install them on your computer

After the successful installation of both files (above all - AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi) you can connect your iPod/ iPhone and it should be recognized correctly. You can now run and manage your iPod and iPhone without iTunes by using iTunes alternatives or iPod managers.
