Online retail titan Amazon.com on Thursday opened a virtual shop specializing in Spanish-language digital books for its popular Kindle electronic reading tablets.
US Kindle users seeking digital books in Spanish could buy them at amazon.com/tiendakindle.
The "eBooks Kindle en Espanol" shop claimed a large library of bestsellers including One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and the Spanish-language version of "Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins.
"We're excited to introduce Spanish language storefronts on all Kindles, as well as a dedicated store for our Spanish-speaking customers in the US," said Kindle Content vice president Russ Grandinetti.
"We're looking forward to continued expansion of our store for Spanish language readers around the world."
The online shop's library of more than 30,000 titles included works by Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho, touted as the best-selling Spanish-language author of all time on Amazon.com.
"Humankind needs stories the way it needs oxygen and the impact of ebooks is formidable and is transforming the entire book industry, as well as readers," said internationally acclaimed author Isabel Allende.
